High Carbon Ferro Chrome

HOME > News
High Carbon Ferro Chrome--High Carbon Ferro Chrome is majorly produced in China, Russia and India.Ferro Chrome is an alloy of chromium and iron containing between 50% and 70% chromium. The ferrochrome is produced by electric arc melting of chromite and chromium ore. Most of the world’s Ferro-Chrome is produced in South Africa, Kazakhstan and India, which have large domestic chromite resources.Addition of chromium improves the strength and yield point of steel and reduces elongation insignificantly. The presence of Chromium in carbon steels improves their hardness and wear resistance.
The production of steel is the largest consumer of Ferro Chrome, especially the production of stainless steel with a chromium content of between 10 and 20%.

The Specifications of Ferro Chrome

Model Cr Si C S P
FeCr60C7.0 60-63% 5.0% 7.0% 0.06% 0.06%
FeCr58C7.0 57-60% 5.0% 7.0% 0.06% 0.06%
FeCr55C10.0 53-56% 5.0% 10.0% 0.06% 0.06%
FeCr50C8.0 49-52% 5.0% 8.0% 0.06% 0.06%
Ferro Chrome with chrome content below 56% is known as ‘charge chrome’ and produced from a chrome containing ore with a lower chrome content. Alternatively, High Carbon Ferro-Chrome produced from higher grade ore, is more commonly used in specialist applications such as engineering steels where a high Cr to Fe ratio and minimum levels of other elements such as sulfur, phosphorus and titanium are important.
Chrome is mainly used to improve the antioxidation and corrosion resistance of steel to make the surface of steel after it is oxidized to form strong adhension oxide film. Then it stops being oxidized or decelerates being oxidized. Micro-carbon ferro chrome is applied to making stainless steel, acid-resistant steel and heat resistant steel.

Most of the ferro chrome produced worldwide is used in manufacturing stainless steel.Stainless steel depends on chromium for its appearance and its resistance to corrosion. Around 18% of chrome is used in per unit content of stainless steel.
Foundry-grade ferrochrome containing around 62-66% chromium and almost 5% carbon is used for producing cast irons.
Our good quality high carbon ferrochrome is used in the manufacturing of ball-bearing steels, tool steels as well as other alloy steels.
Ferrochrome alloy is also used when more chromium is needed to be added to carbon steel.
Apart from making stainless steel, low carbon ferro chrome is also used in the manufacturing of acid-resistant steels.
Our company is a professinal ferroalloys manufacturer. The main products are ferrosilicon, SiCa, SiC, high carbon silicon, silicon metal ,ferrochrome etc.Low carbon ferro chrome alloy is one of the ferroalloys commonly used in steel industry. Products are exported to Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Europe and the United States and other countries and regions. The quality of lc ferro chromium products is stable and the price is low. It is well received by customers.
